KOERT TURNS 1!

It’s Easter week! The studio has been “hopping” with lots of sessions full of color and a vibrant abundance of energy from some adorable littles! I am a lover of all things thrifty and on the sales rack, especially for children, but seriously what is it about Easter time that sparks my desire for a shopping spree in the children’s department stores??! ….$50 on one outfit-SURE! (If my husband is reading this: “it’s the one time a year I PROMISE!)

I get this A LOT: “I bet you take photos of your kids all the time.” HUH I wish! No. I don’t, this girl of mine is 5 months old and just experienced her first studio shoot with me.
My 2 favorite things about her face 1) squishy cheeks 2) those lashes could totally show Maybelline what’s up!
Her shopping lover grandma snagged another outfit, GRANDMA’S are great! …Just keep smiling girl, g-ma will fill your whooollleee closet by the end of it! Back to these Easter outfits…here they are! Due to my poor planning I didn’t even think of getting them in for spring photos so thought I’d snap my own. I know I’m not alone when I admit this..my kids listen to other adults better than they listen to me so I just spare myself the expected stress and hire one of my photo friends to photograph us. By the grace of God, my studio partner Stephanie Foto happened to stop into the studio shortly before I added Braxton to the picture and helped manage crowd control and the spit up rag! …Both necessary for a happy momma and successful shoot!

The month of March was busy for the 1 year olds! 3 in one week? NO problem! I’m full of enough funny faces and strange noises to crack smiles for dayyysss! Koert’s 1 year session was a refreshing morning shoot full of all that listed above….and a little bit more.
Notice the chair & stool changes? 10 months + almost requires an arsenal of props that are a tish to big for the little humans so they are left stranded on them. It will usually take them like 2 minutes to figure out their escape route off of them which gives me time for tickles and a few shutter snaps before we are back to where we started….children running in opposite direction of camera.
Beautiful momma Julie showed up all snazzy and hopped in for a few with her little man.

NEWBORN MODEL SEARCH

My spring baby mania has officially started with quite a few little ones arriving weekly! YAY!!! I try to keep each session fresh and unique to you, with that being said one of the pose sets I would like to expand on is posing on the beanbag. The photo(s) above and below are examples of a few of the poses on the beanbag.
Practice make perfect—-This is specifically for my own education purposes. I for the most part have been just sticking to the same wrapping techniques and simple posing because I know I can get just about every baby to do it but I want to learn how to comfortably push my beanbag posing abilities and and have time to practice it!

Are you a fit?
-Your baby must be under 2 weeks old
-Willing to drive to my studio in Morris, MN
-Born within March-April

**NOTE: This is not a full blown newborn session, it is going to be a quick 30 minute session for my own educating purposes. I will work specifically on one pose per baby. If you are interested in more shots OR a newborn session please book for another day and time!

It’s been an amazing last 3 years photographing newborn clients, however oddly enough I just shot my first set of twins!!!
My thoughts before the session: “Do I even know what I got myself into?”
My thoughts after the session: “HELL YEAH, I could shoot twins for dayyyss!”
So any newby twins on the way I WANT YOU!

My friend Danielle a former newborn photographer (and a darn good one at that) inquired me about my newborn & fresh 48 package when she was about 6 months pregnant with twins…my heart dropped because she was good and my confidence level was low that day. As an add on to my newborn session is a little something I like to call behind the scenes hospital session also known as Fresh 48. After the blood & gory is cleaned up I visit clients in the hospital for a few family snap shots, baby details and hospital keepsake photos to capture the memory and atmosphere of where your baby first came to be.

With a billion other photos I could go on for days but just had to share the highlights from my wonderful visit with them.

Side note: these babies were preemies but seriously adorable, I mean look at all those CHEEKS!
Cooper was the bigger twin but besides the fact he was such a good big brother. I was posing Madelyn on top of him all day and a few times he would blink at me -like really- but then close them again because they were soothed by the company of each other…a phrase that they will most likely quickly outgrow! Best of luck to ya mom!Scroll down…These shots are done on a beanbag. It’s one of my favorite places to prop babies but can also be the most challenging. The shots are simplistic, natural, and classical.
SO after all this is said and done I went home and told my husband that I wouldn’t mind if we ever had twins. His response,”Keep your day job.”

JAXTON AS A NEWBY!

If you have been following my blog and Facebook page over the past year you may have noticed 75% of my clientele are under 36″ tall and weigh in between 5-30lbs. My life as a mother of 2 is filled with chaos, sleepless nights, dirty diapers, tears, laughter and the joy to be a MOM! My career as a photographer has directly steered me to capture the littles’ in other mothers lives too. Dad’s- you are GREAT, however during my newborn and family sessions, the shots that truly tug on my heart are those with momma’s loving on her babies.

….So now it’s my turn.

In October of 2017, we welcomed this beautiful baby girl Braedyn Macy into our family and chills dance up and down my spine every time I see this image of me and my baby girl. \\Photo cred: Kinderbella Photography
