Meet the Jipson family. As if this little chick Mia wasn’t cute enough, mom and dad are blessed once again with a beautiful new addition to their family, Dawson. The fam joined at the studio and we started with a couple selfies of Mia- almost 3 and added in mom and dad before we handed the spotlight over to little D. As mom and I discussed how his name came to be (from a movie) she said it was crazy when the Dr. who delivered him mentioned his hometown is called Dawson. Coincidence?
I think his name was truly meant to be!
Thanks Jipson’s, your happiness is contagious and a joy to work with!
Snuggle in little one…
It’s Saturday morning and as my husband is racing around trying to load everything for our camping trip to the North woods (God bless his heart!), I’m finishing up some editing and catching up with my emails from this week. My child is screaming, “MOMMMMYYYY wets go!” from downstairs, although he is learning a valuable life lesson…you will ALWAYS be waiting on a woman I gotta make this a quick one! || Meet this little guy…
This is a little insider from baby J’s gallery utilizing 1 backdrop but just changing little props and poses carefully. I like to keep my sessions simple yet personalized to the family and home decor. Within 20 minutes of the session we have a handful of coordinating photos and the greatest is we hardly had to move or fuss with baby in between style changes.SHORT & SWEET! Happy 4th of July folks!
Van Eps Family
Here they be, the Van Eps family! After a reschedule (RAIN) and dang near another (RAIN), we luckily snuck in a session between the spastic and sporadic storms we’ve been fighting with here in Midwestern Minnesota. We gathered out at grandma’s farm to capture miss Josie who turned 1 and the rest of the fam.
The girls were pretty intrigued with petting and squishing the moss growing in the cracks of the concrete, I gave it a try and well I was too!
Thanks Van Eps family!
SWEET PEONY…
Braxton our little man is 3 1/2 years old, potty trained, independently dresses himself and wise enough to know when to sneak a juice box (or 3) out of the fridge when momma’s not looking. He is intrigued with everything we do and after 10 million whys he is well educated with why we are doing what we are doing. Earlier this spring I transplanted some peony plants to move towards the house and he was right there with his Crayola shovel in hand digging away. Needless to say his little plants didn’t make it in their home but he was sure excited when mine started blooming. We got home from daycare one evening and he got out of the car and said, “Wook mommy your pwants over dare are so pretty!” After veering him away from the patch of dandelions near by, I told him we should pick some peony flowers and put them in a vase to enjoy inside. He grabbed his apple picking basket and ran full force over to the bushes to start plucking away. As much as I don’t love misquotes, I love our Minnesota summers filled with long days in the sun and long nights with my favorite dirty faced boy.
When photographing your own family, challenge yourself to not just snap pics of the moment but capture the whollleeee story. Try different angles, move with them but still engage in the activity they are doing and keep it snappy. Usually with young kids, they are entertained for about 2 minutes so get the shots you need to get and then enjoy the rest with them. Try to resist the temptation of zooming in and out, although it may be necessary, you can miss some creative opportunity by remaining stationary and not exploring with them. I always try to get the overall “scene” and then pick out little details that add character to the story. Like you see in the photos above, I was in no means standing in one spot and this moment was super sweet but it was also happened super fast so have fun but push yourself to try something new the next time your camera is bonding with the kids!
ASHER TURNS 1!
Meet Asher, a total sweetie, 3rd child, sandy haired, smiling lil’ guy! OH and he’s officially 1! Mom came to the session with a bag FULL of outfits, not to mention a smash cake and birthday decor goodies we used for his photos. We sifted through outfits, props, and backdrops and put together some cute yet classical sets.
Somewhere in between 6 mo. & 2 years begins the challenge to keep the little tikes in line to sit but we keep the session moving fast, lots of shooting on my part, lots of jumping and goofiness on mom and dads. Wa-La and there you have it folks, contact me through my website to book your baby and kiddo sessions!
Happy Birthday big guy!
NEWBORN ALARIC
Big brother Leif is proud to announce his new little buddy mom and dad brought home, Alaric John!
Although Leif is doing great at being a big bro…it is no easy task,
considering his world did just get turned upside down.
Regardless mom and dad are overjoyed to watch you both grow
fond of each other!
Thanks for sharing your sweet little buddies!
